Who We Are

A European SSH Consultancy for Energy and Climate Transitions

SocioTech Lab is a specialised consultancy providing Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH) expertise to European research and innovation projects, public authorities, and organisations addressing complex societal challenges related to sustainability, climate action, social inclusion, and governance.

We support initiatives funded under European research and innovation programmes, working at the intersection of societal needs, institutional frameworks, and long-term transition objectives.

Our role is to ensure that innovation and policy processes are socially grounded, inclusive, and ready for implementation, replication, and sustained impact.

Our Mission and Values

We support the transition towards inclusive, climate-neutral, and resilient societies by embedding social insight, participatory approaches, and governance expertise into research, innovation, and implementation processes.

Our work strengthens the connection between technical ambition, societal realities, and institutional capacity.

People and communities are at the centre of our work. We approach citizens, stakeholders, and local actors as active partners in the transition, recognising their knowledge, needs, and agency. Our work is grounded in rigorous social research and transparent methodologies, ensuring credibility for cities, public authorities, and European institutions.

Equity and fairness are integral to our approach. We actively address questions of inclusion, affordability, and vulnerability, supporting just transition principles and ensuring that climate and energy benefits are shared across society. Collaboration is central to how we work. We engage across disciplines, sectors, and governance levels, fostering constructive dialogue between technical experts, policymakers, and communities.

Our Team

SocioTech Lab brings together Social Sciences and Humanities experts with experience in European research and innovation, policy advisory, and applied urban and energy projects. Our team combines academic rigour with practical implementation expertise, enabling us to support projects throughout their lifecycle.

Team members bring backgrounds in social research, political science, public policy, behavioural research, governance, ethics, and just transition frameworks. We work collaboratively with technical partners, municipalities, research organisations, and networks, providing SSH expertise from early proposal development through implementation, evaluation, and replication.

Rather than operating as a standalone consultancy, SocioTech Lab positions itself as an embedded partner within project consortia and city initiatives, contributing social insight, facilitation capacity, and governance expertise where it is most needed.

Legal and European Readiness

SocioTech Lab operates as a European consultancy supporting EU-funded research and innovation projects. Our administrative and organisational structures are designed to meet the requirements of Horizon Europe and related European funding programmes.

We have experience working within European project frameworks, including consortium coordination, reporting obligations, reviews, and audits. Our research activities follow GDPR-aware data handling practices and an ethics-by-design approach aligned with Responsible Research and Innovation principles.

This institutional readiness enables reliable collaboration with cities, public authorities, coordinators, and European consortia, providing assurance that our SSH contributions are delivered with professionalism, compliance, and accountability.
