Mission & Values

Our Mission

At SocioTech Lab, our mission is to enable inclusive, resilient, and socially legitimate transitions across climate, energy, sustainability, and societal innovation agendas.

We help organisations and public actors bridge the gap between technical ambition and societal readiness by integrating Social Sciences & Humanities insight into the design, implementation, and evaluation of research and innovation initiatives.

We believe:

  • sustainable change cannot succeed without understanding people, communities, and institutions

  • complex transitions require collaboration across sectors and disciplines

  • innovation is stronger when it responds to lived realities, not assumptions

Our approach ensures that transitions are not only technically sound, but also accepted, equitable, and effective in real life.

Our Values

People-centred approaches guide our work. We recognise citizens, communities, and local stakeholders as active partners in the transition and design processes that respect local knowledge and lived experience.

✔ Evidence and integrity underpin all our activities. Our work is based on rigorous social research, transparent methodologies, and critical reflection, ensuring credibility for public authorities and European institutions.

✔Inclusion and just transition are core principles. We actively address equity, affordability, and vulnerability to ensure that climate and energy transitions benefit society as a whole.

✔ Collaboration across governance levels is essential to our approach. We work across disciplines, sectors, and institutional contexts, supporting coordination between cities, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.
