What We Do

Social Acceptance & Behaviour Change

Enabling Uptake and Long-Term Use

SocioTech Lab analyses social, cultural, and economic factors that influence acceptance and use of energy and climate solutions. We support partners in identifying barriers and drivers affecting participation in retrofit programmes, adoption of new technologies, and engagement in energy communities.

Our work combines qualitative research, behavioural analysis, and user-centred approaches to inform communication strategies, service design, and policy measures. The aim is to enable informed choices, sustained behavioural change, and long-term use of solutions.

By addressing social acceptance early and systematically, we help reduce implementation risks and improve the effectiveness of climate and energy interventions.

Importance

Why It Matters

Technical performance means little if people resist participation or revert to old behaviours. Understanding social acceptance and drivers of behaviour change is essential for long-term success of PEDs, retrofits and energy community schemes.
